I’m so excited to start this new series featuring a ton of #BossBabes on our team. The first is Sam, who I actually didn’t know in person but finally got to meet when I went out to Portland last year! This is us with Kari Lewis, who we both signed up with!
So let’s get to it… Tell me a little bit about yourself
David and I met at Eagle Fern Camp in 2007. I had just graduated and he was going to be a senior. We didn’t reconnect again until 2009. I seriously saw him and knew I was going to marry him. It was love at second sight, haha. But that meant somehow we had to actually be friends. He finally knew he wanted to date me like 6 months later while we were both working at camp. The rest is history.
I’ve been a stay at home mom since June 2016. Landon is 7 months old today and that is so crazy to me. While doing oils, I’m also learning how to be a purposeful mom and housewife. I don’t want those to be my only identity, but if they are, I want to live those out well to those who know me.
What makes me happy right this moment is that David works from home 2 days a week. I know moms do it 5 days a week or even more if their husbands are serving the country. But gosh, I’ve been blessed and cannot take it for granted with him being home to work and help me at the same time.
Other things that make me happy are anything Disney related. Obvi. And making our home feel like home. It’s an absolute forever work in progress as I do not have an eye for decorating. Thankful for Joanna and Chip Gaines for inspiration!
How long have you been using YL?
Since September 2014
What is your go-to diffuser combo?
Lavender, Lemon and Peppermint… I think it’s good all year round!
What’s your highest rank?
What got you started using oils?
I needed help with seasonal sniffles and David needed help sleeping better… The rest is history!
What got you started doing the business? What’s your why?
I went into the business blindly because I waited so long for my kit. I thought, let’s just jump all in without waiting this time and see what happens! My WHYs consists of: to pay off our house and student loans, buy a safer family car, pay off my parents debt, pay off my in-laws debt, donate to music programs in Portland school districts, donate to camp and church, donate to foster programs and lastly (and selfishly) a trip to Disneyland.
What YL oil can you not live without?
How can anyone choose one? Definitely Frankincense. If I could choose one product it would definitely be Ningxia. I thought I could last in-between orders of not having it and gosh was I wrong. Our immune systems were so so down without it. Never again!
What has been the best part of doing the business?
I really didn’t see this as a job at the beginning because I just didn’t know what it looked like. It’s so fun to see people in my downline reaching their goals and dreams of bringing their husbands home. The Silver Retreat was also so eye opening and a wake up call. The possibility of this business lit a fire in me and made me so pumped for the future!
Advice for someone just starting to use oils?
If a certain oil doesn’t work, don’t give up! Everybody is different and there always more than one option for any issue you want oils for. Don’t be afraid to ask for different suggestions!
Advice for someone just starting to pursue the business?
Fall in love with your oils and when something works, share it! Note: fall in love with your oils. People know when you’re in it for the money so share personally. You have to love essential oils and truly care about other people and their wellness. Make sure people know you love essential oils and that they can go to you for all their essential oils questions anytime!
Thanks for sharing with us Sam! And stay tuned to see who next month’s #BossBabe is!
